RHS Chelsea 2015 charity celebration
RHS Chelsea 2015: The Flower Show opening this week is celebrated at Bevern View with planting, sewing seeds and potting plants indoors. Everyone is rolling up their sleeves in true RHS Flower Show spirits and getting their green fingers stuck in to the soil. Time in the garden and around plants can lower stress and it is well known that gardening has many therapeutic benefits for physical and mental well-being and it is also great fun. For our residents activities like these can be stimulating, therapeutic and calming. RHS Chelsea 2015 is a great inspiration for everyone at Bevern View to get involved and think about how beneficial gardening and planting can be for communication, education and good fun.
The residents at Bevern View need a specially designed space outdoors to have room for somewhere peaceful to escape, giving a sense of balance and well-being. It is our aim to provide a purpose built Sensory Garden designed for everyone here to access and enjoy, by the time next year’s Royal Chelsea Flower Show comes around.
We are fundraising to do just that – to build a Sensory Garden, providing a therapeutic and tranquil space at Bevern View for people with profound disabilities and their families to spend precious moments together and experience elements of nature from their own home. You never know, with enough volunteers and fundraising support from our community, we might even be able to recreate our very own RHS Chelsea Flower Show, right here in Barcombe!
