SGN team give Ground Force style makeover
A team of twenty from a depot of gas suppliers, based in Burgess Hill, set about transforming the grounds of the Bevern Trust last week. We were in need of help to prepare the grounds and building for winter, and our Garden SOS was answered…
Gas team go all ‘Ground Force’
The Gas Depot ground force team of volunteers spent the day clearing gutters and cutting back overgrown trees and hedges, which now let in much more daylight for the residents at Bevern View. Some of the team also helped with sensory and educational sessions and had fun dressing up and getting involved in the vital activities that support communication and movement.
Patrick Hyndman, Engineering Manager from the South Downs Depot said: “Spending the day working at the Bevern Trust was extremely rewarding to me and all the members for team building. From working in the grounds with the gardening to assisting the volunteers in activities with the residents we thoroughly enjoyed every part of the day and are looking forward to returning“.
Matthew Cornish, Fundraising and Development Manager at The Bevern Trust said, “When I got the call from the Burgess Hill company, offering to donate their Community Action Programme volunteer days to us, I was delighted. The difference that they made to the home is extraordinary. As a charity, we rely on the help of businesses for their support and we couldn’t do it without them. Our thanks go to all the team for their hard work and we hope to welcome them back again next year.”
It is great to see a business team donating their time and skills to a local charity that needs their help.
The Bevern Trust need to raise at least £5000 every month to allow profoundly disabled people and their families get more from life.
