Appeal for gardeners to help Sussex disability charity

Appeal from Sussex Disability Charity's Chief Executive for volunteer gardeners

As the Chief Executive of The Bevern Trust and an avid gardener myself, I get to see first hand how a lovely looking and well-maintained garden brings so much happiness to the people with profound disabilities who we care for.

However, I need your help. Two of the regular gardeners who were originally volunteering to look after the garden at our home Bevern View in Barcombe, are no longer able to come and help and so the weeds are starting to creep up again and the bushes are overgrown. I need someone who can spare a couple of hours each week to volunteer and help us keep on top of things in the garden.

We have two adjacent sites at our home in Barcombe where the grass needs cutting, the flower beds and the borders really need some TLC. We can provide some basic tools and materials as needed.

The surroundings are so important to the people who live at Bevern View and their families, so if you can share my appeal with any fellow gardeners that would like to come and help make a difference at their Sussex disability charity, I would love to hear from them.

Volunteer gardeners* can call me directly on 01273 021240 and we can arrange to meet here and I'll show you around the grounds at Bevern View.

With thanks,

Jonathan Spencer, Chief Executive

The Bevern Trust
