Students from Hurstpierpoint College spent the day in The Bevern Trust garden on the 23rd June, ‘digging for disability’.
The team from Hurst College spent Friday 23rd June tidying up the grounds at Sussex disability charity The Bevern Trust, making the gardens look great in time for summer. Students worked incredibly hard throughout the day, transforming the borders, getting rid of the weeds and giving the outside spaces some real TLC.
Many of the students also spent time in the afternoon with residents at Bevern View, joining in with activities, reading stories and getting involved.
Residents at our home Bevern View love to have visitors and all the students from Hurst were so enthusiastic, friendly and so positive about helping in the garden or getting involved in activities.
Our thanks go to everyone from Hurst College for their time and to the Teachers and coordinators for making it possible… We look forward to seeing you again next year!
If your school has the opportunity to get involved with local charities like The Bevern Trust, we would love to hear from you. You can come and get involved at our home, volunteer or come for work experience, or we can come to you and hold an assembly in your school that inspires your fellow students and gets everyone talking about disability in an engaging inclusive way.
