Lewes Santa Run Launches With Natasha Kaplinsky
Television Presenter, Newsreader and Strictly Come Dancing Winner Natasha Kaplinsky launches Santa Run Lewes for The Bevern Trust!
Natasha launched Lewes’ first ever ‘Santa Run’ with our sponsors on Monday this week, which is coming to Malling Brooks recreation ground on Saturday 2nd December.
Natasha, Patron of The Bevern Trust is also joining the family friendly 2km fun run which kick-starts the festive season for the town. Hundreds of ‘Santa’s’ are needed to sign-up and suit-up for the yuletide run, walk or wheelchair-push, which hopes to raise at least £5000 for the Sussex disability charity.
Natasha Kaplinsky said “I can’t wait to see all the Santa’s running around Lewes on the 2nd December and I’m delighted to be supporting a local charity that is doing so much for the local community, not only with the Santa Run, but also to support their work with profoundly disabled people at their care home, Bevern View in Barcombe. We want to see a really fun-filled event to get the festivities off to a wonderful start in Lewes, so book now as places are limited; run, walk or dance round and help make our first ever Santa Run an unforgettable day!”
All those entering will be given their very own Santa suits and medal with refreshments afterwards provided courtesy of Harvey’s Brewery.
Jonathan Spencer, Chief Executive at the Bevern Trust said: “The people The Bevern Trust care for at our home Bevern View require specialist support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The fundraising and sponsorship people raise from our events like the Santa Run, are absolutely vital for us to provide the support our residents need, so join us and help make this an extra special Christmas for profoundly disabled people in Sussex. We’re so very grateful to Natasha Kaplinsky family for such fantastic support and to the sponsors for helping to raise the profile of the Santa Run, we couldn’t do it without them.”
The Bevern Trust relies on donations from the public to raise more than £12,000 each month to continue providing its specialist services and opportunities for profoundly disabled people to get more from life.
The Santa Run 2 km is kindly sponsored by Lewes businesses: Harvey’s, HRS Creative and WE Clark & Son, which means all the money raised from runner’s sponsorship can go towards the vital care The Bevern Trust provides.
The route is accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs, so the whole family can take part – even well-behaved dogs on a lead!
Entry is just £10 for under 16s, £20 per adult and under 5s are free. Your Santa suit, medal and refreshments from Harvey’s are all included. Although under 5s are free, they cannot be given a Santa suit due to size limitations, but they will have their own Santa Hat and medal and still must register in advance.
We ho-ho-hope to see you there!
